Drawings

Occasionally I like to go through my old art work so yesterday I dug up some of my old stuff. I did these drawings about 2 1/2 years ago. I'm obviously not much of a photographer seeing as how the pictures are warped and the color is off but I still like these drawings. I use to draw animals all the time but with doing portraits so much lately it has been a little while. I always wonder if there is a market for pencil drawings, if there were I would probably try and sell some of my stuff but I don't know if anyone would want it.

What a weekend!

Oh boy, it has been such a long weekend. My boys have been sick and so has my husband, but with completely different illnesses. The funny thing is my daughter and I are fine! I was explaining to a friend the symptoms my boys were experiencing and he said, "that stinks!" Ya, literally. I did 15 loads of laundry in a week! I don't think it would have been so bad if we had our own washer and dryer but walking down to the laundry mat all the time gets old, especially with stinky laundry. But, finally everyone is starting to feel better, except for my baby. His little bum is so sore he screams every time I change him... which is about every 15 minutes. I sure hope he gets over this bug soon.
Well, I haven't had a lot of time to work on any projects since I had to take care of a bunch of sickies, including my husband but hopefully I can get some stuff done this week. I have a bunch of drawing to do and some books I need to finish up.

An old book

I found these pictures of a book I had made for my mom a couple years ago. I got the wood engraved and I hand-dyed the paper different colors. It was the first time I ever took wood to get engraved. I think it turned out really well.  I love making books out of wood. I have made several before but they seem to be the first ones to sell, they don't stick around very long. That is the great thing about the coptic-style binding, if you can put a hole in it then you can probably make a book out of it.

First time for everything

Well, here goes nothing. I'm not much of a writer... okay, so I  don't like writing at all but I am going to try out this whole blogging thing and see how I do. I am doing this mainly so people can automatically go to the websites where I sell my crafts. I figured it was easier than sending out a bunch of links. I will also try and post pictures of new products that I get done. I hope to also get feedback on my work so I know what people like and how I can improve.

Just a bit about me, I am a stay at home mom with three little kids ages 3.5 years, 2 years, and 10 months. My husband is about to graduate from BYU in April then we are moving to Idaho for a job. I don't like winter at all, I grew up in Florida so, I love flip flops. We will see how I do in snow boots.

Well, I will post more later!

Stuff I Make Up

One of these days I really will write a book entitled "50 kid crafts to make out of household garbage". Than I would be rich, famous, and finally buy some nice furniture.

Since I don't have the time or often the inclination to run out and spend money on crafts for my toddlers that will get destroyed in the first ten minutes, I tend to just make things up with what I've got on hand. So start saving those toilet paper tolls because we use A LOT of them!

Enjoy!

Okay kids, shush, mommy's blogging. Oh, the baby just dumped out a box of Cheerios? Well, let's see who can eat the most Cheerios. Ready, set, go!

That should keep them busy for a few minutes.

I'm Serene and this is my totally awesome, crazy cool, insanely noisy life.

I'm just your average joe-shmoe mom and I write about anything and everything that floats my boat on that particular day. I am a mormon, I have a degree in Visual Arts and do freelance art on the side. I have no self control when it comes to books.  Once I start a good book, I don't notice much else until the end, then realize my house looks like it just went through the garbage disposal. I also love to draw, make books, and craft in my minimal spare time.

I have a severe chocolate addiction, which I'm surprised I haven't been brought before a disciplinary counsel for yet, and I have recently discovered a new found love for shoes.

I grew up in the sunshine state and landed in the frozen tundra of Idaho. I think I might be cursed.

After being at college for two years, my husband rolled up in his big Chevy truck and swept me away. We've been married for over almost twelve years!

We had six gorgeous monsters.

Savannah is 10 years old, Joseph is 9, Jacob is 8, Alayna is 6, Claira is 4, and Jackson is 18 months!

And yes, we need to update our family photos.

On September 9th 2009, our little girl Alayna had major surgery to correct her Sagittal Craniosynostosis.
Then on January 3, 2014, our little Jackson needed surgery to correct the same thing.

You are welcome to read their stories by clicking on the links HERE.

Other than that we are your average crazy little family!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your visit and will gladly give you a baby wipe to clean up any peanut butter and jelly that gets stuck to you during your stay.
