Should've Known Better

I always let the kids pick out a treat when I go to the health food store. Today the kids picked these ice cream mud pies thingies. Well, Joseph of course devoured the whole thing but Savannah didn't like the "crust" part of her ice cream pie so I took it off and gave it to Jacob. I should have known better. I turned my back for just a second to do something on the computer and when I turned back he was covered in chocolate. By that time there was nothing I could do except let him finish his dirty work. Besides, how could I get upset over something so cute.

Eggs

So I finally got around to helping the kids decorate easter eggs. I've been telling Savannah for days now that we would do it so I figured it was about time. I think I'm turning into the worlds best hovercraft. Since decorating eggs involves dye I hovered over kids so there wouldn't be any spills or mishaps. And quite incredibly it worked! Actually, it was probably just because the eggs were pretty warm so the kids didn't want to touch them so I did most of the egg handling. No spills or major messes which means no ruined clothes, colorful skin, and best of all, no scrubbing floors, yea!

What can you do

Although I am not teaching Bookbinding at BYU this semester, I do get asked to sub once in a while. This morning one of the teachers asked me to teach his afternoon class but I couldn't find a babysitter and since it was going to be a very quick demo, I just took the kids with me. (I know, only at BYU right) The class is taught in a building that is off campus, it use to be an Albertsons so it large and dirty. BYU mainly uses it to store stuff.  Savannah and Joseph just ran around while Jacob sat in the stroller next to me.  Amazingly we got away without breaking anything and without any injuries but we couldn't quite escape a mess. Here is Joseph showing, quite proudly I might add, his own artistic skills. You just can't beat that cheesy smile.

We came home, cleaned up, then went over to Susy Montejo's Birthday Party. The kids sure had a good time. Savannah loved dressing up, although she's not that big on princess stuff or playing dress-up like her friends are, I had to drag Joseph back in the building kicking and screaming because he wanted to keep whacking the pinata even after it was busted open, and Jacob just giggled and crawled around the whole night.

Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk

Whoever came up with that saying has obviously never had the delightful experience of swimming through your kitchen because there is a gallon of milk floating around on the floor.
It all started after a rather crazy trip to the grocery store. Normally I go late at night so I don't have to deal with the kids but we really needed something for dinner and Luke was still on campus so I ventured out to the store by myself with the kids. I guess it really wasn't too bad considering all that happened was the kids screamed hello to everyone we passed, fought for a short period of time, mostly Savannah screaming, "he's touching me mommy!" and the kids hanging out of the sides of that front part of the shopping cart, the part that looks like a car, while racing to see who could pull the most food off the shelves.
Anyway, I carried Jacob and two gallons of milk up the stairs to our apartment then herded the other two inside and gave Savannah instructions not to let Joseph open the door. So, I ran back to the car, grabbed some groceries then sprinted back up to the apartment.
As soon as I opened the door Savannah runs up to me half crying saying, "I made a mess mommy!" Well, that was an understatement! Savannah had tried to move one of the gallons and had dropped it, busting the corner and there was Jacob, gleefully splashing around in the milk with Joseph standing right on the edge of the white river screaming "mess!! mess!!" It was obvious that she had tried to clean it up by the solitary paper towel floating in the milk.
Now, I'm sure most of you would had loved to have seen a picture of this but I have to say that was the last thing on my mind as I waded through our kitchen to remove Jacob as he was helping to soak up the milk with his pants.
When Savannah was little I use to take pictures of all her messes; a whole box of cornstarch on the carpet, a banana squished into new pajamas, lipstick all over the quilt... things like that. Now, I just feel like locking the kids in their rooms so I don't have to follow them around with paper towels and a broom.
Anyhow, the moral of the story is, there are certain instances when crying over spilled milk is okay.

Easter Morning

So, I splurged a little and got all the kids new outfits for Easter Sunday. Luke said that if he had given the boys little guns they would have looked like gangsters. If I had thought of that I would have found them hats to complete the outfit! When we arrived at church one of Savannah's little friends (Ellie Sutton) ran up to her and said "Oh Savannah, you look like Cinderella!" It was pretty cute. Luke was at a meeting while I was taking the pictures so I didn't get him in any of them. The pictures turned out pretty good considering Jacob was pretty grumpy and Joseph kept giving me cheese smiles. Well, I have to say, they are darn cute!

You will never guess...

So, all last week I am carrying on about how mad I was that someone had stolen some of the kids laundry. I was ready to post flyers and signs telling the jerk who stole my kids clothes to give them back! Well, I just came back from switching the laundry from the washer to the dryer and while I was there I looked over at the corner of the room and I see a pink and gray striped shirt and thought, "Hmm, that looks just like Savannah's shirt". So, I go over to investigate and low and behold, there was my missing load of laundry that someone had put into a basket and shoved in the corner where it has been sitting for the last week! I was so excited that I found our missing laundry! Now if I could just get my hands on the person who took my laundry out of the washer....

Sleep Deprived

I climbed into bed at about 11:30 pm and it always takes me a while to fall asleep so who knows when I actually fell asleep. But since then I have jumped out of bed twice to put Jacob's binky back into his mouth (he is 10 months) because he is finally getting teeth and is pretty grumpy, and then just as I was finally getting some sleep, Savannah (she's three and a half) starts calling for me quite loudly. So I go check on her and she wants me to fix her pillow and her blankets. So, here I am at 6:15 am, dog tired with a headache and I can't seem to fall back asleep! Honestly, I'm not sure why I am putting all this down in my blog but that's all I could think about doing as I was laying in bed wishing I was asleep. Oh, and I just heard Joseph. I just know as soon as I climb back into bed, and just maybe fall asleep, all my kids will wake up. Oh well, good times!

Easter

In light of Easter coming up, I thought I would show off the Easter clipart collection I made last year. You can check it out by clicking on the title link.
I'm still trying to figure out how people make clipart look so good and so flawless when it is painted or hand colored. Mine always looks terrible! Of course I'm not exactly what you would call a "clean" artist. I think making messes is my specialty, which is a trait my kids picked up so well.
I am trying to find a cute and affordable dress for my daughter for Easter. This is the dress I bought for her last Easter and I got it the night before so there was NOTHING left! And, oh my goodness, I was about 8 months pregnant with Jacob in this picture.

Anyway, I want to do better this year. It seems like all the cute dresses are too expensive. And I have no idea what to do for the boys... ties? I think little guys in ties are super cute. Well, I guess I should just shop around a bit more. Later!

Got some good advice

I spent a lot of time on the phone with my friend Michelle and she gave me lots of tips on how to improve my blog, hence the cool slideshow. Someday I'm sure I'll be able to figure this stuff out so I can make my blog look better but I'm afraid for now this will just have to do. Michelle has a really fun bog and she also makes and sells the cutest little leggings for babies and little kids and she also sells Moby wraps. If you want to see any of her stuff check out the links on the side.
