Church Adventures

As I walked into the Young Women's room today for the last hour of church, Karlie, a sixteen year old girl, looked up at me with a huge smile.

K: "You have a very funny son".

Nervous Me: "Which one?"

K: I'm not sure, but I was walking by the bathrooms when he walked out of the men's room with his underwear and pants around his ankles. Then he threw his hands up in the air and shouted, 'I went potty!' It was SO funny!"

Slightly horrified me: "Oh... that would be Jacob."

Nothing like knowing your three year old son flashed a bunch of people at church.

Awesome.

I do hope he is younger than 8.

But much can be endured if it means successful potty training.

When my oldest was four, he drew a cow, complete with udders, during Sacrament meeting, then he yelled down the bench at me that he had just drawn a cow and, pointing, this was the cow's ----- (5-letter word starting with P that is a male organ). The teenage girls behind us couldn't stop laughing. Lovely kids in church.

Hey, at least he entertained them! :)

What a cute kid. So proud of himself. Way to enjoy your accomplishments Jacob!

Count your many blessings! He went potty in the men's, and not the hallway!

It's a good thing we don't live in the same ward. People would confuse our blond-haired, blue-eyed, potty-going hilarious boys.

But, he went potty on his own! Sounds like a celebration to me!

Yeah, it could be worse, he could have gone in his pants and just left them in the bathroom on the floor :)
Count your many blessings name them one by one!

Yup, it could be worse.

I'm the chorister in primary, and a few weeks ago, one of the sunbeams unzipped his pants, put his hand down his underwear, and, um, started to go to town. Yeah, telling him to take his hand out of his pants made for an uncomfortable moment!

it could have been worse - you know, if he hadn't gone potty...

trying to look on the bright side. Hopefully those young women will all forget which of your children it was LONG before it is time for their younger siblings to start dating... because otherwise he's gonna have a hard time getting a prom date.

oh yeah, memories..... Don't worry, this probably won't be the most embarrassing thing that he will ever do. I could wish for you that it was, but he is off to way good of a start to stop now!

Holy Hannah, you just never know that those Mormons are going to do next! So, did he get it from his moms his dad's side of the family?

LOL

Hey, He went potty all by himself!
I think a congratulations is in order, maybe over the pulpit next time! HA!!

And EVERYONE in church knew EXACTLY what a triumph that was. Ya, we've all been there.

Your son just happened to be the object lesson and reminder of where THEY were once upon a time.

THis is just one more part of your initiation into the ranks of adult and parenthood--a steady stream of humiliations. The good news is when they turn 12, they will be embarrassed by everything you do.

EVERY MOTHER...has one of these stories...about their young sons...Now, you know...you are a NORMAL TYPICAL ALL-AMERICAN FAMILY! (smile)

True story.
