Sunflower Jungles and Razzle-Dazzle Berries

I have been complimented quite a few times on how well our garden looks this summer.

And I agree with them. "Oh my yes, the weeds and the sunflowers are doing awesome! And the morning glorys are especially great this year."

I have a knack for growing those in abundance.

I had planted those large-head sunflowers along the fence last year. When hubby cut them down in the fall, we just left them in the garden. Consequently, the seeds had spread throughout most of the plot.

When they started popping up in the spring, I would pull up a few here and there, but didn't have the heart to pull all of them out. I thought the sunflowers were so fun!

Pish, sucker.

Now, the back half of the garden is literally a sunflower jungle that has completely over-taken our tomatoes and peas. The kids like to walk through them, so I don't know if my poor little peas will survive all the jungle exploration.

And the dang morning glories have taken over my raspberry patch! Gah!

Picking raspberries is terribly tedious and I always look like I got into a fight with a cat and lost by the time I'm done. But yum oh yum. We've been getting a bowl like this about every other day!

I'll probably never be able to actually do anything with them though since the kids scarf them down as though they are going extinct.

Claira has a special fondness for them though and has a really hard time sharing.

More than one fight has occurred over these berries! (lovingly of course)

My mom took these photos of my flowers over the 4th of July weekend.

I gotta say, I'm already hating this years winter.

It kind of freaked me out when I went to the craft store only to find all their fall stuff out, and Walmart has all the back to school supplies out!

Why is everyone so dad-gum anxious for summer to over? Why? Whyyyyyyyyyyy.........

*sniffle*

So. Not. Ready.
