We got Joseph a Hot Wheels race track for Christmas, but it only came with one car.
The boys wanted to play it together and race cars on it, so I assured Jacob that we had plenty of cars around the house we could use.
I found a car and we attempted to use it but it didn't work very well. So I just figured that perhaps they needed to be the Hot Wheels brand.
I gathered up a few more cars and as I handed one to Jacob I said, "Try this one, although I'm not sure it's Hot Wheels."
Jacob took the car, and held it in his hand for a moment while standing very still.
Satisfied, he looked at me and very seriously responded, "Nope, it doesn't have hot wheels, they're cold. But we can try it anyway".
Me: Jacob, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Jacob: Batman. Does Gotham City live in true life? Is Batman real?
Me: Do you think he is?
I don't think he's going to care if Santa is real or not, but I bet he'll be devastated when he discovers that Batman isn't.
And now for a "You know you're a mom when..." moment.
You know you're a mom when...
Someone asks you, "So, what have you been up to lately?"
You get to say things like, "Oh, you know... while the almost four-year old was downstairs sticking keys in the plug outlet and sending sparks everywhere scaring us all to death, the 18-month old was upstairs dumping a brand spanking new bottle of modge podge (aka craft glue) all over the carpet.
Just the usual.
