A Sticky Situation

It's my fault. I know it is.

Before we go any further I want to make that perfectly clear and understood.

But despite that fact, I would ask that we all take a moment to feel sorry for me based on Section III, Paragraph VI of the Mommy Support Handbook... that I just barely decided existed.

I mean, I know she's a climber. She's been scaling the bar stools for weeks now.

And I know I should have put it away... that whooooole brand new batch of maple syrup made this very morning.

But... I didn't.

After the older kids left for school, I decided to take a shower instead of clean up breakfast. Usually Claira comes into the bathroom as soon as she hears the water going.

And I did briefly think it strange that she never showed her toothy grin this time, but brushed it off.

My mistake.

When I finished my shower I heard her whining but chalked it up to the fact that she's been super whiny lately and was probably ready for a nap.

My mistake.

After I rather unhurriedly got dressed, I finally emerged to find out what all the fuss was about.

That's not water, or juice, or milk, or any such easily cleanable liquid.

No no... it's my brand new batch of homemade maple syrup. Or rather, it was my new batch.

I swear that Care bear is laughing at me.

And as I stood there gasping and sputtering in pure horror, Claira just nonchalantly looked around, waiting for me to do something to resolve her predicament of being unable to climb down from the counter since she was all sticky.

When I finally got around her asking her what in tarnation she was thinking, do you know what she had to say for herself???

Pish... just how am I suppose to respond to that?

You know what the worst part about this whole situation is? I'm fresh out of chocolate. Its just... so, so sad.

Well, I have been meaning to scrub down my floors, she just managed to push my intention into necessity.

So if any of you have need of some incentive to get started on your deep cleaning project, let me know!

I'll rent her out for cheap.

Wow. Just. Wow.

I am so sorry, lady. I needed chocolate yesterday like the shiz because my baby wouldn't take a nap. (maybe little 30 minute-ers here and there but not a good, long chunk to give me a break.)
I was ready to have a mental breakdown. Luckily, a friend came to my rescue and brought me the last of her texas sheet cake. Oh my-lanta. So delish!

I hope someone comes to your rescue!!

I would join you in chocolate oblivion today. I just got back from dropping my son off at school, almost two hours late. Why? Because he found out that Eliza, the little one, was going to go to Nana's house while he was at school so I could go to the temple. That was the end -- he was absolutely beside himself, screaming, crying, running away from home, NOT going to school, because he wanted to go to Nana's house, too. After exhausting all my good and bad parenting strategies, I sent him to bed until he could act like a human being again. Eventually he got bored and resigned himself to going to school. But that two hours made it too late for me to go to the temple after all. So I'm having a little pity party for myself right now. I think I'll go dig out my emergency stash of English chocolate, because what's a party without refreshments?...

Nothing worse than a sticky, gooey mess. Unless you sprinkle flour in it, too.

See, it could have been worse!

That is pretty funny.

That is too funny and sad (for the syrup)! Be glad that she just stood there and whined instead of climbing down and running all over the house!! :)
