We sure hit the budget mom!

Back to school clothes shopping kills me. Even if there's a clearance on top of a sale on top of a discount on top of a rollback, it seems to me that stores still require that you give them a kidney and your life's savings so you can afford to buy clothes that kids will outgrow in a year.

As I was on my way home today, I decided at the last second as I was driving by the entrance to our subdivision, that I would check out a garage sale or two before going home.

And after only one stop, I managed to hit the jackpot baby!

Thirteen items of lightly used clothing for $13.

Now Savannah has jeans for this year and next, all for a dollar each instead of the ten I was planning to budget in, and beyond all hope, a nice pair of shoes for only a freaking dollar! And here I was getting up the nerve to go spend  fifteen on some for her.

Even the boys got jackets for this year and next, and Joseph was super excited to get a couple of items as well.

After exclaiming that we had hit the jackpot, Savannah asked me what a jackpot was. So I explained.

After we got home, I was still all pumped about our killer find when Savannah came up to me and said, "Man, we sure hit the budget, mom!"

Awesome.

And Hubby is never again allowed to give me hard time for garage sale shopping.

Ever.

Never ever.

The end.

my husband always gets on me about thrift store shopping, but he can't complain when i bring him home three shirts for $3 - and they turn out to be his favorites.

WOW!!! You are AMAZING!! I am beyond impressed! I just spent $110.00 at Old Navy for 11 jeans and was SO proud of myself for cashing in on their sale. You put me to shame girl!!! Way to be SUPER Mom!!!

Aren't garage sales amazing? I refuse to buy my kids' wardrobes from any store....I garage sale every summer and stock up then! Can't go wrong that way!

That is great! My boys are lucky if they get anything new for school. They only get it if they truly need it. If it still fits from last year and isn't too worn out, they wear that. I might just need to check out some garage sales myself!

Does this mean the boys won't be wearing pink boots this year? I am so disappointed. :)

Don't you just LOVE consignment shops and garage sales...? I have a darling sister in our ward...who could wear anything...and make it look like it was bought in some expensive store...Last Sunday...I complimented her on her new dress...for it looked absolutely FABULOUS on her...She simply giggled and said..."I cost me $3.00 from the consignment shop"...! DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! (smile) GREAT BUY, SARAH!!!!!!! Blessings from on high!

I. Love. Garage sales! I wanna go out this morning and look for them. I sometimes feel like those guys on American pickers. Hit the honey pot!

I scored a metal urn type thing and a vintage tin for a buck fifty.

If I knew anything about shopping for kid's clothes, I'd probably say this is a great find.

WOOHOO!!! Good for you!!!!!!!! Kids jeans are practically disposable anyway---they get holes in them 3 seconds after they put them on for the first time.
