At this very moment...

I can hear my kids my kids fighting and screaming in the background... wait, was that a smack or a punch?

*sigh* Does it make me a bad mom if I just... sit here and ignore them for a while?

Ah nuts, they found me. Here they come, all three storming into my bedroom and all screaming and crying in an effort for their tale to be heard and wanting me to punish their offender. Well, too much crying so I can't tell who started it all...

Hmm, no blood, guess they're fine.

Excuse me for a moment will you...

*insert elevator music and images of creamy chocolate here so you can't hear or see my response*

Eh hem, sorry 'bout that. I just had to let them know that I saw their lives flash before my eyes. I don't think they realized they had just encountered a near death experience... if you know what I mean.

Anyway, just had to blog a common moment in time. A few of my sweet friends have confessed to me that they are under the sorely mistaken impression that I handle everything so well, and my whole day is fun and entertaining.

Oh, it's so not.

We are quite normal around here. Quite normal.

Now you know the truth.

The End.

I ignore my kids too...just so tired of their constant fighting and tattling
I wouldn't mind hearing elevator music instead of their fighting

And I sit here reading this while my four young siblings are sitting on the couch quietly reading a book together. Haha, just kidding.

I completely understand the ignoring thing. I don't think it makes you a bad mother. If it did, then I would be a bad mother before I even have children. Heh.

You mean you are not some SuperMom??? I have been reading your blog faithfully thinking I was going to learn some jedi parenting tips...*SOB*
I usually threaten my children limbs...as in I will rip off their arms if they keep hitting their siblings...it worked the first couple of time and now they just roll their eyes at me...quick! I need MORE threats!!

Thanks for shielding my virgin eyes and ears with the elevator music.

heehee

;)

PS. When my kids came to me all yelling over each other about who was to blame, my simple solution was to say that since I couldn't establish who did what to whom, they would all be sent to their rooms to get over it. Yes, I was mean like that.

Ditto. My son kept locking himself in the shoe closet and banging on the door for me to get him out. The 8th time he did that, he decided to walk in with his pants off. I don't know what to think. I don't think, therefore, I ignore. :)

I don't even HEAR my kiddos anymore. They have to say MOM at least 10 times before I turn around. That's probably not good, but you know, you have to survive this mama thing somehow;)

I've been babysitting my sisters four kids for the last three days. Ignoring their spats is not only ok, its necessary for sanity

Sometimes it's best just to let them work it out themselves..as long as there is no blood or broken bones of course!

The "they found me" made me laugh. I always think that when I hide from my kids too!!

Sometimes, we just have to have a little peace. It is the thing that gives us patience to endure the arguing, fighting and chaos.

I personally loved it...when I "called court"...(me, of course, the righteous judge) It was always interesting to me...how you all had to make the the decision on how the "punishment" was to be executed...Of course, once the court declared the "verdict"...it was to be DROPPED forever...or the "punishment" would be decided by ME...and NO ONE EVER wanted to RISK that part of the deal...WORKED!
