I'm Okay With That

Would you find it strange for me to say, that I enjoy the whirring of the dishwasher, the swooshing of the washing machine, and the humming of the dryer, all going along symutaniously?

I suppose you might, but it's true. Perhaps it's because it was five years of marriage and three kids before we had any of those things. I still appreciate them.

Plus there's just something quite comforting and uplifting about those sounds.

Or seeing the vacuum lines in the carpet.

Or the lingering smell of cleaner waffing from the bathroom.

Or opening the kitchen cupboard to find it full of clean dishes.

And perhaps one of the reasons I enjoy them so much, is because, they rarely ever happen altogether, or stay for very long.

And sometimes, I'm simply okay with that.

I enjoy those sounds too...it means clean everything :)

p.s. there's a reason I never mop the floor....it doesn't last! The instant I get done, the kids spill something

Great post! I wish we had a dishwasher, but I know it will happen eventually when my husband is done with school in 2015. I wish medical classes didn't take so blasted long. Sometimes I am tempted to leave the dishes until he IS done with school and live off of plasticware. Though that isn't very cost effective or green of me:)

soooo true.

and the best noise of all? the first few moments of silence when all the appliances are done cleaning my clothes and dishes - because this usually happens about the time the kids are in bed and I'm about to follow them :)

LOVE those happy family pictures, you guys are so cute! And seriously, it was the same for us too! But those sounds also mean accomplishment and that is very fulfilling. :)

Yep, have to agree,They're the best sounds of the house!!

I love listening to them while I'm in a hot bath or reading a book...or both!

I'm so with you, Serene, but I've gotta say that the one noise in there that I can't stand so badly that I accidentally-on-purpose eliminated it's possibility? The obnoxious sound of three rambunctious boys energetically beating the heck out of Hungry, Hungry Hippos.

I love the sound of the washing machine going too...reminds me I am actually doing some productive.
But alas! My dishwasher still sits IN the box!!! Waiting for the day we can get cupboards and get the thing hooked up!

Finding joy in the small things are just what we need to be so happy.

Those are good sounds. I think I was married 10 years before we bought our house and it didn't have a dishwasher.....5 kids! ACK!

Having that happen simultaneously is truly a miracle.
You my friend are amazing.

Such a great post. And YES those are great sounds! I love them, too. It's weird. I feel like I am a better mom when things are clean. That worries me, though, because things are hardly ever clean so does that mean I'm hardly ever a good mom?! ;) I still love your blog so much. Your posts are always worth reading. I hope you're feeling alright!

You know...when the memories are past on from generation to generation...funny how no one ever talks about how "clean their house" was or wasn't...They only talk about...the times they "bonded" together...Truly, one of the great "treasures" of this LIFE...

I love your adorable family!! So sweet. And I SO agree with you. Having a clean house is the ultimate in tranquility.
This last year, we've been living at my aunt and uncle's house and they have a... drumroll please... CLEANING LADY!! Gasp.

I know, I know, I'm a spoiled child. My aunt wanted to keep this sweet lady employed, so she continues to have her clean the house every two weeks. It's actually turned out to be the hugest blessing because of when I had to go on bedrest and all the trials that have happened since then.

But like I said, I agree with you. The most important things in life are the ones that also leave their dirty dishes in the sink. :)

Okay, just spent some time catching up, and I have to say - what a darling girl in your sparkly shoes. Nothing like a baby in a diaper and hooker heels to sell the shot! : )

Happy Birthday sweet girl

And I am going to try the squished frog story. Should work for someone who doesn't listen to Mimi right?
