Daddy is like... the King!

The day was winding down and we, as a family, were cleaning up the house. Of course we were having the kids do most of the light pick up work, seeing as all the stuff that needed to be picked up belonged to them.

Savannah, however, was not happy about it.

Finally in a moment of frustration, she blurted out to daddy, "It's like you're the king and we have to do whatever you say! And... and you do less while we do more than you!"

We scoffed (nicely of course) at this.

The dialogue between her and daddy went back and forth along these lines for a few moments before she finally finished with, "Humph! You make life so hard."

Suddenly, Luke lets out a long wolf howl and says, "Whoa! Did you hear that whinny wolf? That's what you sound like, a whiny wolf."

Savannah pulls a pout and mumbles, "I do not."

Thankfully, Luke has a talent for ending on a good note with the kids and soon they were laughing and working together.

*This message has been recorded and preserved in writing for Savannah's future enjoyment for when she has her own six-going-on-sixteen year old daughter.

Your husband sounds like my son. He always seems to use a bit of humor to diffuse these situations.

Usually, it works!

I think you need to get her the book, Monsters Eat Whiny Children. Now, whenever my daughter starts whining, I just say, "What happens to whiny children?" and she starts giggling.

I really need to get the book that Amanda suggested. I think the whiny wolf is a good idea too. Anything to stop my little ones from sounding like a dying cat:)

Whoo hoo, I am so going to borrow the whiny wolf thing from you. I am wondering how my girls will react if I start howling!!! (can't wait to try!)

Would you like us to reveal some of our "saved" documents of one of our daughters and her rantings????

That is so cute... I just told my husband that I am done having girls. and that from now on all I want are boys. The drama will kill me some day. I just know it..

Haha. Kids. They are all to excited to help out when they are little. But the older they get, the more rebelious they become. We have no choice but to become tyrants...It's our job!

Very wise my friend, to have this recorded because I'm pretty sure she'll have selective forgetting.

Good for Luke for getting them to laugh.

I hate the whinny wolf. When boys do it, it's even worse.

You have got to hand this one to Luke...Keep practicing...Luke...You are going to need it when she becomes a "teenager"...! (smile)

Yeah, my daughters often point out that "it's like they're the maids around here" and "we do more work than you mommy!"

HA! If only they knew.

I LOVE when my kids tell me that they do all the work. that's about the point when I walk out the front door with a quick note to let them know what is left undone...

note: it is never done when I return - but at least they are done with their portion and I am left to do my work in peace.
