Pregnancy Brain

I had my first real pregnancy induced breakdown this week.

It was awesome. I mean, I've done better to be sure. I still have a pretty funny memory of probably my best breakdown ever with baby number three, and Luke awkwardly patting me on the back while I sobbed and sobbed.

*sigh* Good times. Good memories.

Still, this breakdown was a decent one.  Tears, snot, talking to myself, the works. The good news is I hadn't put any make-up on yet so I didn't smear my mascara. Whew! I hate that.

You see, while I was in the shower that fateful morning, Alayna snuck in, grabbed the toothpaste and took off.

Only I didn't know it yet.

It wasn't until I was done and sitting on the bed, trying not to throw up, when the boys ran in, just in their underwear of course, to announce that Alayna had made a mess.

Sure enough, toothpaste coated clothes, arms, legs, hair, carpet, and all, Alayna knew she was in big trouble when she saw me marching in.

It was the last straw. And I yelled at her.

I'd been so sick these last couple days and already upset about husband related issues that I. Just. Lost. It.

While I was scrubbing her down, none too gently, images of the container of sour cream that she pulled out of fridge and smeared all over herself and ALL OVER the kitchen floor came to mind. I'm starting to dislike anything white.

Oh, and this.

I don't want to talk about it.

Not to mention the two containers of glitter (the annoyingly fine kind that never seems to thoroughly clean up) she dumped all over the bathroom.

Then she got into the toothpaste... again. And the bag of homemade biscuits she crushed and scattered all over the kitchen.

So yea, I felt I had the right to be a bit upset.

But here's the icing on the cake.

After the toothpaste incident, I decided I would take the kids to play group for a while, hoping to get some of their wiggles out and maintain some hair on my head. We all climbed in the car, I pushed the button to open the garage, started the car, then started backing out.

The crunching noise had me slamming on the brakes in time to realize I hadn't waited long enough for the garage door to fully open.

Umm, I get to totally blame that one on pregnancy brain... right?

And Hubby thinks pregnancy is so rough for him.

((((HUGS)))) Holy Canolie!! You should blame it all on your husband...it's all his fault anyway that you are pregnant! ;-) Hahahaha! I really hope things get better for you quickly!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! What a doozie! :) If it makes you feel any better, my parents bought a new car last year...a brand new car...they've never owned a brand new car before...and the FIRST DAY they owned it, their garage door closed on top of it.

Murphy's Law?

You really do get to blame that on pregnancy brain. Your brain is normally fractured between four kids, a husband, yourself, feeding the family, taking care of the house .... Add a fetus that is actively taking whatever it needs from your exhausted body and brain and you totally get to blame it on the pregnancy. Misjudging something like the garage door is perfectly understandable - especially after a morning that had already taken all of your reserves.

oh my! yep, blame it on whatever and whoever you want :)

Definitely pregnancy-induced!

Sometimes I wish that men could be pregnant for just a week. That would do it, I believe.

They all think it's hard on them. They also think you plan your period around when they'll most want to have sex. The Earth's axis goes directly through their head and comes out their...well, you know what. Bless their hearts.

Oh, I am so sorry for such a tough day. Besides the messes of daily children life. Ruining the car or the garage door stinks. I ran into a trailer last week with my new car, and had a pretty good dent. 500 dollars to fix my stupidity, ouch. Needless to say Husband was not happy with me. Even after I was totally supportive of him taking down the hotel lobby last year with a moving truck. hum... I should let him have it for that one. Hang in there a few more weeks, I am 14 weeks and the Morning sickness is almost all gone. I'll pray that yours will go away too.

Oh Girl all I have goes out to you. I soooooo understand times 2. All and more minus the glitter...it was always all the eggs but yes kids can clear a fridge before you can take one step after them. Sorry about your garage door. That is one I have not and hope not to experience. I guess that helps that we park them in the driveway(: I do hope things get better and you can enjoy your shower more fully next time as I know that is your piece of mind(:
Unfortunately men dont understnad that there is first pregnancy brain and then mommy brain which really isnt that different(:
Good luck with it all....(:

Pregnancy brain, emotions, and sickness do not a happy mom make. At least on days like these.

I think my wife would have made one of my boys use that toothpaste for the next several months had one of them tried to do that, which they have and she has done exactly what I just said.

Oh, and no worries, she yelled too.

She is really putting you through the ringer! This is clearly a case of toddler-mom brain not pregnancy brain (although that must help).

My oldest two were totally like this, but they are now bright, kind, helpful teenagers (so there is hope).
