It just goes to show...

...they have no clue what they're talking about.

Situation: Savannah comes home from piano lessons, sobbing. She was upset that she had struggled with a song that she attempted for the first time.

*sobbing* "I'm just can't do it! I'm just no good at it!! I wish I were big because then I would be married and wouldn't have problems!"

I struggled not to pop her little wonder-bubble in regards to that comment.

Instead I gave her a pep-talk.

Didn't make a dent.

Girl's are so dramatic.

So I asked her why being big and being married would solve all her troubles.

"Because then I wouldn't have to take piano lessons!"

Oh..............................................

Innocence is bliss I suppose.

A few minutes later.

Me: "Why don't you just go finish up your dinner?"

Savannah breaks down into tears again.

"I don't want to! I wish I were big because then I could eat whatever I want!!"

She obviously doesn't understand anything about puberty and aging metabolisms either.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

P.S. If you missed my little escapade with my exploding casserole dish, or if you just need to laugh at me again, you can read all about my special homemaking skills over at MMB today!

Hm...the reasoning of young chillins' is amazing. Luckily you recorded this moment so that when she calls you in college, you can refer her to this page.

Sometimes I wish I was so innocent again!

What a hoot! Once she's grown up, she'll be whining about how she wishes she was a little girl. (that's what happened to me anyways) :)

haha...I blew up a casserole dish once too...but that was because it was not to go on the stove.

in regards to Savannah's comments...If only being an adult was that easy

Marriage is a great way to solve the TAKING piano lessons part, but you are right. The problem arises in PAYING for the piano lesson as a married person!
It's true, they have no clue.

Oh, but we CAN eat whatever we want. It's the amount that gets us! Unfortunately, I know that when I'm married the piano lessons still won't stop--and the poor man is going to have to endure me teaching myself. Not a pleasant thing.

Her drama and logic are so fun to hear about.

Just wait a few years. Drama + hormones = lots of "fun."

All your problems didn't evaporate at marriage? You must just be doing something wrong (or be a real live person, either way).

That is just too funny!

Were we all that naive as children...that life would be "perfect" when we grew up? I guess I was never truly "a child"...It would have been heavenly...to have had such innocence...LOVE IT!

She'll figure it out someday.

P.S. How the heck do you not burst into laughter at what comes out of their mouths?

I have days like that too! Poor Savanna!

Gotta love what they say though! I'll be heading over to MMB now!

Oh the drama of it all!! : )

When my son wanted to quit piano lessons, I made him write up a proposal with sound arguments as to why he should be allowed to drop it.
Too funny!
