Miracle

If my blog were a car, it would have to be a stick shift, because I don't know how to drive one.

And you all would have whiplash.

I realize there is no consistency here, that I am always jumping from random post to random post, writing about whatever floats my boat on that particular day. I have never claimed to be suave or obtain any finesse when it comes to writing.

Although for the life of me I have no idea how shampoo and conditioner are involved in all this.

And if you caught that lame joke, I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me.

This morning had a very Autumn-like feel to it. Overcast and cool, it tends to make one feel all mushy and reflective.

It was my dad's birthday this week. He's in his later fifties, still a young wipper-snapper by all accounts.

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you will remember when I announced back in February that my dad had cancer. And aggressive form of Lymphoma that had already made its way into his bone marrow. It was very sudden, and the news came crashing down on me like Dorothy's house on the wicked witch, minus the snazzy ruby slippers of course.

And I don't really consider myself a wicked witch, I just happen to look like one first thing in the morning.

In March he started chemotherapy. I'm sure only people who have experienced it first-hand can fully appreciate that statement. Yet, through the next three and a half months, he maintained his unfailing sense of humor and positive outlook.

Well, I got the call from my mom, fourth of July weekend. They had just received the result from his second PET scan.

He was in full remission.

After only three and a half months of chemo, the doctors were dumbfounded, marveling at the medical anomoly. We, of course had a different name for it, miracle. And that's the power of the priesthood.
First PET scan. Only the yellow parts should be visable. And do you see the size of his spleen on the right?
A few months later. A normal PET scan.

So happy birthday dad! Thanks for deciding to stick around.

After all, you did promise me a new computer. (inside joke people)

Love you daddy!  XOXOXOXO

And once more, I get that reminder that the priesthood is real, and miracles can/do happen if they are suppose to.

That is so awesome, Serene. And I bet you don't look like a wicked witch in the morning either. ;)

Your verifier says resemb. I bet you don't resemb a wicked witch in the morning.

Hey do you think your dad would donate a piece of fabric for the magic quilt? Something he wore during his miracle? Did he write any of his experiences down?

Yeah. Happy Belated to your daddy. (Your word verification is "glessin". I wonder if it's the bloggy world version of "great blessing?" ....never mind.

I'm thrilled for you guys. I remember how much I hated the effects Chemo had on Josh until we heard that it was really working. It is worth it if it works, right? Here's hoping all the rest of his treatments get a lot easier and that his remission lasts for several decades!
