Fruit from the random tree

I spent six hours on Tuesday canning peaches, and got 28 jars done.

I'm pretty sure I was on the brink of a psychological breakdown.

But yesterday, my sweet neighbors decided I was worthy of sympathy, and with four extra set of hands, we finished off the rest in about five hours. I'm pretty sure I owe them my kidney.

It would have been my spleen except for all the peaches that got eaten along the way. That dumbed down my debt to just a kidney.

And I have orange fingernails. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

But next year, when my husband decides "we" should get 150 pounds of peaches so that "we" can can them, I'm going to make darn sure he holds up his end of the "we" part.

Then he can have orange fingernails too.

~~~~~~
Savannah caught whatever sicky bug the boys had and was home all day yesterday. The only up side to her being the sick one is that she's old enough to avoid puking all over the beds, or the carpet... most of the time.
Then this morning she woke up chipper as ever and couldn't wait to go to school.
~~~~~~

We took family pictures last night for the first time in over five years.

I mean, actual pictures where someone came with a fancy shmancy camera and we smiled and posed and begged, pleaded, and bribed the kids to all look at the camera at the same time, smile at the same time, and not all run off at the same time.

Savannah was sick, but a good sport.

Joseph was pouty and grumpy.

Jacob was hyper and extra cheesy.

Alayna was extra sassy and flat our refused to cooperate half the time.

Next time we take family pictures, I'm going to sell circus tickets and popcorn.

And you all can come watch.

I hope you've recovered from the session Cassie.

~~~~~~
I haven't commented on a single blog post in over a week. I hope you forgive me. My eight-year old computer is just that, getting old. Do you know, it can take over five minutes for my computer to load one of your blogs?
It took me over 15 minutes just to crop and upload the pictures in this post! I use to use my husband's laptop to read all your blogs because it was eons faster.
But it has recently died. Passed one. Bit the dust. Ruined my life.
You know I love you right? But until we can resolve this dadgum computer situation, I might be a little sparse around the blogosphere.
For reasons I hope you understand.
Millions of peaches.
Can't say the word "peach" without thinking of that song.
Sorry you're experiencing technical difficulties. I'm just barely getting back to blogging after moving, so no worries here. Still love you.
Can't wait to see the pix!
What a drag to be having computer problems. Hope you get some relief soon.
And I hope you get some stomach flu relief, too. Jackie told me that one of your kids threw up grape juice everywhere. (Did you want me to come and clean that up?) ;)
Seriously, though, the grape juice only works as a preventative. Once they are sick, it's too late. So the ones who should drink it are the ones that have just gotten exposed, not the ones who already have symptoms.
Sorry to have contributed to the stain-removing workload!
I do love peaches, but that's a lot of work!
Ugh, computer problems. I can feel your pain. Our computer isn't 8 years old, but 5 years old is still pretty old in computer land. It's pretty slow too.
Well, we think you're just peachy...you know that right? I'm canning millions of tomatoes this week...I am not sure how many jars of diced I've done, but I'm moving on to salsa now...hello HOT & spicy!
I uploaded them last night and there are some great ones inbetween some funny ones ;). I can't wait to get them done. I might just have to give you a sneak peak of a few before my weekend trip if I get time to do a few today!
That is a TON of work - those peaches. But then in the dead of winter, you'll be glad for them!
holy peaches... maybe I'm glad I missed out on them this year? My "good Mormon woman" card is in jeopardy because I don't own a single canning jar.
okay, maybe one... I think somebody gave it to me full of layered cookie ingredients... 3 Christmases ago... I wonder where that went?
Yep, you must be feeling extra peachy today!! Love your jars! I am getting my four 40 lb boxes this week. So not looking forward to the work, but love the results.
"Charlie!!!!"
I'm all about the "home" pictures that are free with your own camera. And I think all of the family pictures you've taken over the last 5 years have been great. Though I have to admit that I love to see those fake brownish books in the background of some of my family pictures. Or the classic Christmas scene...
Oh bless you darling.
You always make me laugh!! Hope that yucky buggy has found its way OUT of your house. Do we get to see the family pictures when they're done? :)
Take care, hope the computer sich is fixed soon.
Mmmm... peaches are one of the things my tummy cannot get enough of.
That sick bug has been going through my classroom one kid at a time. I hope my own boys don't get it. They are awful pukers.
Canned peaches will be a perfect snack for when there is that earthquake.
Good job on all the canning! That is very hard work.
Don't worry I have been swamped and had a hard time commenting too. I'm stealing away some minutes right now (I have a sink full of dishes - this is more fun!).
Can't wait to see your family pictures!!
The peaches are beautiful!!! Are you ready to do some salsa?
Seriously you would love it.
'specially since you don't have a computer to distract you from filling up jars.
The great thing is in a few days you'll proudly look at all those bottles of peaches and will have forgotten what a pain it was. Kind of like childbirth...yeah right! ;)
Computers really should be put down after they get too old and infirm. It is the humane thing to do.
My father-in-law does the same thing with canning tomatoes every year. It makes me laugh because it always seems to be a surprise.
I have to say... You ROCk. I love canning, however I have never canned that many jars of the same thing. Now you have a year supply of Peaches. YUM...
Congrats on the peaches, WOW! And I have heard dino computers take a million years loading my blog, so I understand completely. Funny, I though MINE was a dinosaur since it is now 6 years old!
Ummm...not to stir the pot but my hubbie, if he brought home 150 lbs. and said "we" are canning these and did not help would not be getting any peaches. LOL :)
You MUST post your recipe online, as soon as you get the computer running. :)
