Just Add Water - Part 2

Remember when I wrote part one

Cute sprinkler happiness and all that jazz.

But as I recall, there were a couple comments left on that post wherein someone stated they did not have a yard to frolic in, nor sprinklers to revel in.

I have the solution for you.

Who needs a yard?

Who needs sprinklers?

All you need is...

a mud puddle!

It provides hours upon hours of gritty happiness.

The neighbors can even come over and join in the fun!

Okay, in all truth and honesty, I didn't realize they were playing in a mud puddle until it was just to darn, stinkin' late.

Jacob was curious and watched as he soaked his whole self in the murky water.

Alayna decided to play copy cat, but didn't realize that he wasn't lapping the water.

Don't worry, when I saw what she was doing, I put a stop to it. Sheesh! What kind of mother do you think I am?

Still, I take comfort in knowing my children will have strong immune systems.

Because that's the kind of mother I am.

Happiness, pure and simple.

See? No yard, no sprinklers.

Just a mere puddle.

Now you can enjoy that last couple weeks of summer.

You're welcome.

On a completely and totally different subject that has absolutely nothing at all to do with what you just read in any way, shape or form, I got a call from my friend Gina yesterday.

See, she has the very mistaken notion that I am a blogging Goddess, which I'm sure is abundantly clear to everyone else here today that I am not.

However, she asked if I would blog about a "cutest kid" contest that one of her daughters is a finalist in.

At first she offered all kinds of incentives, like chocolate and babysitting.

But then I must have I appeared slightly hesitant or something because she threatened to never babysit for me again! She may even vandalize my secret chocolate stash, because she's a woman and could probably sniff it out..

And since I am desperate enough to do anything that secures free babysitting, here I am, blogging away about it.

So hop on over to the contest and vote for Jo Jo, number 15 so I can get as much babysitting out of Gina as possible. She's the very last picture! Thanks!

Okay, you know I blogged about it simply because she asked.

And Jo Jo is just too adorable.

Heheheheheheh!!!! For each person that comments here and votes I will give Serene 1 hour of free sitting! (All four kids at once, snacks included!)

Thanks Serene. You're a must have friend. Though I might mention that you stash your chocolate well, cause I can't ever smell it when I come over. The smell of cornstarch is overwhelming!

Aw, she is adorable!

also, my kids drink out of puddles in the street all. the. time. I can't stop them. and I don't even try. Immune Systems...right...

JoJo is adorable. I would now like to play in the water running down the gutter. I can do without the mud, but the idea of sitting on the curb with my feet in the water is highly appealing!

I'm thinking of a variation to the Beatles song, "All you need is Love" but "All you need is Mud." You are one great mamma lettin' the little piglets out to play and experience the good earth! We used to say "God made dirt and dirt don't hurt."

You are a fun mom.

And that is one adorable kid.

You are so right! There is nothing more fun to kids than a mud puddle on a hot summer day! Although, I would probably hose them off before I let them come inside! :-)
Love the pic of Jo Jo, she is a real cutie!!

She is cute. I'll head over there and vote as soon as I give you my assessment of your mothering skillz.

My assessment? You rock!
Think of all the money you are saving on having to put in a backyard pool.

Did you hose Jacob off when he was done?

I have to say... Grows.... But it cannot be any worse than bath water, and my kids drink that everyday. I mean it's only been peed on by 2 kids and only 2 butts, 4 feet, and havens knows what else is in that water.

Mud can most certainly be a child's best friend! I'm surprised that you didn't frolic with them.

I love your mud monsters. You are Mother of the Year. It rained for about 5 mins the other day and my kids had made boats in a matter of seconds and sent them down the stream in the gutter. These boats are now floating at the bottom of the pool. So sad and cute.

Mud is nature's way of keeping kids quiet.

I just have to know if those clothes ever came clean? I wish when my kids were younger that I had worried less about messes and getting other things done and just enjoyed them the way that you seem to do. I love your blog and stop in from time to time. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and once when my oldest was just two, as we were buckling her into the carseat she said "Want to hear a dirty joke?" My husband and I looked at each other terrified as she said "A boy fell in a muddy puddy." She's 16 now.

Serene is my name, not my life! said...

LOL! Nice joke. And thanks for your sweet comment!

And yes, the clothes came out perfectly clean! The trick seems to be to wash them as soon as you take them off the kid, while they are still wet.

If you let the mud dry, you're doomed! :D
