Savannah's Sign Gallery

Due to the amount of interest shown in Savannah's door sign shown my last post, I have decided to open the doors to her personal gallery and invite you all to come forth and be inspired.

As we are a non-profit organization, large donations of intrinsic or cocoa value are required at the end of the tour.

Thank you.

Step right this way and please watch out for the diaper left in the hallway.

Behold, Savannah's inner closet door.

This is where the signs reside until needed. When their service is required, they then make the journey to her bedroom door, to the place of honor and recognition.

Title: I am Mad
Medium: Graphite on paper
Artist: Savannah

By far, the most popular piece, this sign has often held the place of honor.

As if it wasn't obvious by her severely pouting face, folded arms and growling voice, this little artist wants to make sure we understand how she feels.

Title: I am Sad
Medium: Graphite on paper
Artist: Savannah

Coming in close second, this drawing expresses itself without the need for words. I also find this to be quite an accurate portrait.

Whenever I am crying like this, I feel like one of my eyes are bigger than the other as well! Brilliant really.

Title: I am Glad
Medium: Graphite on paper
Artist: Savannah

The eyelashes are a touch that I personally love.

This is a very thought provoking piece. Don't you wonder why her eyes are closed? Is it peace? Contentment? Or maybe she's trying to hide something by not looking directly at me?

Title: I am Mad and Sad and Glad
Medium: Crayon on paper
Artist: Savannah

Truthfully, I dread the day when this sign adorns the bedroom door.

Which emotion should I address first? Will one emotion grow stronger if I show favor to one over the other? What if the faces start fighting?

This is very intense for me. It puts all my motherly skills to the test.

Title: No Moms Allowed
Medium: Crayon on paper
Artist: Savannah

Reserved for only the WORST of offences, like taking away a treat or a toy due to bad behavior, I suppose she resorted to this method upon discovering that locking the door doesn't work.

Title: Yes, Moms Allowed
Medium: Crayon on paper
Artist: Savannah

It's always nice to know when you are held in good favor and are allowed and welcome to come in.

If anyone is interested in special ordering their own set of signs from Savannah, please contact Serene @ Signs for the Emotionally Confused.

I suspect she will do well in marriage. I can just see her designing a "I am mad" sign for her husband....

I still have a few signs like this hanging around my house!

I love how expressive children are - they wear their hearts on their sleeves and let you know how they are feeling!

Your daughter really can rhyme - she's awesome!!

I love it! Those are great and really expressive signs! You might just have to frame them for her with colored backboard and a matted frame. Think of how much she will love them as she gets older!! Now, if I could just get my teenager and teenage want-to-bees to post signs on their bedroom door that will let me know when it is safe to approach!!!
Maybe if I leave your blog up on the computer.....

Oh my gosh, lady. I needed a big laugh today.

Emmy hits her brother when she's mad, I think I'd prefer the signs. Could I order one please?

Thanks for posting Serene. I like the way that you take things that could be frustrating and turn them into something to laugh at and treasure in the memory.

Think of how many marriages could be saved if we all just took a page from the Savannah book of emotions! No wondering...no guesswork...no ill timed fat jokes. Just read the sign and act accordingly. Except for that, all three at once, one. Oh my gosh, that was hysterical! And I see the snuffleupugus eyelashes run in the family.

I suggest you abide by these signs. If not, she might make more, with even angrier faces on them!

That is sorta funnier than anything I've seen today.
Ah, Savannah. I can hardly wait until the hormones start raging. I imagine you'll have much more to blog about than you do now.
It's gonna be fun to sit back and watch.

Serene you seriously crack me up!!
That little daughter of yours has some great skills. It's good she knows how to express her feelings and writing them down is awesome!

Scrappy Girl said...

Absolutely...a very expressive young lady. Reminds me of something I would have done as a child. I used to hate asking my mom if I could do something or go somewhere so I would write her a note and put "circle one yes or no" at the bottom. She would return it to my bedroom.

When ManOfTheHouse and I lived in Washington he often worked long days with LONG long LOOOONG commutes into Seattle (trust me, the traffic is hellacious) More than once he came home to my version of these signs - in the form of a very long letter on the front door informing him of how joyful our 3 young boys had been that day... he started to fear those letters!!! (but at least he didn't walk in willing to give hugs and treats to little boys who had spent the day painting with yogurt on the walls!)

These are all really cute. Maybe, the "I am Mad and Sad and Glad" sign lets you pick one. Choose wisely!

Watch out! If on the "I am Mad and Sad and Glad" moment arrives...and you choose INCORRECTLY...you could hear it said...that you chose...."POORLY..." (Name that movie!) (smile)

Hilarious! Looks like she has just as much personality as her witty mama.

I love that she has these signs on her door to tell you how she is feeling. At least you don't have to guess right? My favorite is the mad, sad, glad one. That's a complex set of emotions there.

Charlotte said...

I some signs like these. Maybe my kids would know better than to keep pushing me. I also need a sign for "I am trying to concentrate" and "I am one loud noise away from losing my mind!"

Larsen said...

Awesome signs! My son had a T-shirt that had a sign on it that said, "Do Not Disturb. I'm disturbed enough."

Mama Smith said...

She could express herself...in other ways...like "holes in the wall" or something...PICTURES are much SAFER! smile

I'll take four sets, please. One for me and three for my sisters.
