It's all HIS fault!

(Joseph: Hahaha! Mommy! Hey wook! Wook at what we dan do!" )

Several weeks ago, I attended a relief society meeting where I got to talking with a new mother. She's a couple years younger than me and she just had her first baby. We are also both somewhat new in the ward.

We talked about some of the struggles being a new parent brings and how everyone and their dog, and their dog's favorite squeaky toy gives you advise on what to do and how to do it. Which isn't always a bad thing, but differing opinions can get confusing when you're new to something. Not to mention when they start demonstrating, it can get disturbing. But we saw eye-to-eye on many things so we were having a great chat.

(Savannah: Here Joseph, I will help you get down.)

She then told me about the first time she ever saw me. These are her words.

The first time I ever saw you was during the last hour of church, in Relief Society. You were holding Alayna and I thought to myself, 'Oh how cute! She's a first time mom, just like I'm going to be soon!'

Then the next Sunday, you walked by me with ALL your kids and I was like, Holy cr**! (because I don't like the "c" word) Are all those her kids? How old is this girl? And then I turned to my husband and said, 'DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT TO ME!'"

She was just so cute and funny about it that I burst out laughing.

(Savannah: JOSEPH! *growl through clenched teeth* LET GO AND I WILL HELP YOU! *pulling so... hard*
Joseph: *squealing* NO NO! LET ME DOE! LET ME DOE!!! *holding... on... for dear life*)

But the moral of the story here is, it's all your husband's fault that you have all those kids. Kids create the messes, the laundry and the rise in the grocery budget. So next time your husband says anything about those things, you can turn to him and say, "Honey, it's all your fault. Because some girl said it to Serene who wrote about it on her blog. And if its in writing, then it must be true."

(Savannah: Humph! FINE!
Joseph: Haha, See?
Jacob: Ya, see? Me too!)

Oh wise woman! You speak such truth.
And EVERYTHING that goes wrong will always be his fault.
EVERYTHING!

I think that friend of your in church sounds like a total riot. You may be her best birth control....until she lays eyes on those cute kids and then it's all over.

Happens every time.

You SO crack me up!
Holy Toledo! You have how many kids? And you want HOW many more?
Holy COW!
Where's the national examiner when I need them to interview you?

hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL.

ROFL!!!!!

Yup. Trying to raise decent kiddos so they can run for office. Somebody HAS to, Right?

Love you and your blog! And those pictures...LOVE it. At least your kids didn't get heir heads stuck.

Those pictures are hysterical. And as far as blaming your husband goes, I think most guys just assume that as part of the whole package deal.

Hit post too soon. When the kids get older and get in trouble at school, it will always be, "Do you know what YOUR son did today?"

Oh. my. funniness! I loved the entire post! The pictures cracked me up and so did your story.

I had a similar experience with a mom I met in the mother's room (different ward). She was giving me all sorts of advice - since her son was all of 11 months. I didn't want to say anything, but when we came out, there was my husband with our THREE other kids. She was very embarrassed. And thought I was crazy.

I totally blame my husband. He actually is the one who wants a ton of kids (okay, I'll admit, I love them too). Our baby is six weeks old and he's already planing #5... We'll see... :)

Love it, love it, love it!

I am so confused. What is the "C" word?

A husband that wants to out kid his wife? You hear something new every day.

Serene is my name, not my life! said...

LOL! The "c" word is "crap". It's a long standing sort-of joke that saying or writing the word makes me feel dirty. :D

Oh yes, I have met a few guys who wants TONS of kids! Their wives, not so much.

Braden Bell said...

I'm with Cheeseboy--in my experience the guy usually wants fewer kids.

Serene is my name, not my life! said...

True, true... USUALLY. But I'm tellin' ya, I've had a couple guys tell me they want more kids then their wife does!

My husband can guess my day strictly on how I begin my first sentence. "Our kids..." or "The kids..." = good day. "YOUR kids..." = better help with dinner.

Last thing. I get a perverse pleasure watching someone's face when they've only seen me with a couple kids and then I walk in with all six. I really shouldn't get such a kick out of it.

(I also like to watch people's mouths drop as the kids pile out of the car at the store. Like a clown car they keep coming out!)

I'm the exception, I guess. I put my foot down after 6, he would have easily gone for more (and I think still harbors a secret wish I change my mind, although he would never ask me to).

Oh Yeah!! I love it and I can testify that it is ALWAYS his fault! If you ask him, he might even admit it!!! (After he reminds me that it was his idea to stop at 11!) I always wanted an even dozen!

Unfortunately, the only child that can legitimately be blamed on my husband is the one I'm currently carrying. The rest, well, I had to do some convincing.

It does, however, make it convenient when my middle daughter (who it took him 7ish months to get used to the idea of her coming) does something wonderful and I say "See! This is the child you didn't want!" Almost as good as blaming them on him.

thanks for posting this. I'm not going to have to use this as my husband has stayed home with the kids and knows how hard it is to even go potty and have the house remain standing. But for those whose husbands don't know this, just go to Women's Conference this month and leave all the kids home. They will figure it out really fast!!

Haha... My hunny wants 12... I told him I will gladly have the first 6, and if he can deliver the next 6 I will gladly raise them tooo.
I have 4 to go. He might be too old when it comes around to his turn

Love the dual climbing motions in the bottom photo. (And you're right...the men are to blame!)

My hubby would respectfully disagree with you, particularly about this last one... he wanted the big v, but I wouldn't let him... we made a deal, he could have it whether I was pg or not when I turned 35... well, I'm due a month after I turn 35, and sadly this will be my last... but it was in the stars for me to get pg... it took 5 years to conceive my son, and 3 to have gotten pregnant again...
That's also the reason I've been away from the blog so much lately and haven't been stopping by yours as often as I should :)
btw - there's an award waiting for you on my blog

Love the pictures. And why is that old LDS song coming to mind "It takes two...?" :-)

I hope my husband wants as many kids as I do. And I hope we keep wanting that with each successive child!

I do believe that my husband is completely to blame for our two kids... and he feels the same way about me!

I came by to welcome you to SITS! We're happy to have you with us!

Advice is usually given by two classes of people: 1. People that have never had children. 2. People that screwed up their children and are telling you what not to do. The rest of us are in the same boat of figuring it out.

Yes. EVERYTHING is the husbands fault. lol. I do the same thing. I look in awe when I see moms with a lot of kids. It's fascinating.

I am going to come out of the woodwork and tell you I found your blog. Funny. And I only have one less than you and having one more scares me!

I am using this one tonight! I got a speeding ticket, but I am going to blame the high insurance rates on our teenage boys. And I will blame the teenage boys on him!

Brilliant - thank you
