Unicorns, movies, and tooth fairies, OH MY!

As I have explained HERE, Savannah likes to collect things.

All kinds of things.

So it didn't even phase me when she brought home a piece of the pinata from our neighbor's birthday party.

You just never know what she's going to do with the latest item gathered for her junk collection. In this case, its a good thing she had it!

How else would she have been able to turn her brother into a unicorn?

So I FINALLY saw "New Moon" for the first time last night. Some gals from the ward decided they would go see it in the theatre one last time before it came out on dvd.

Haha ha ha... *sigh* Well, it was better than the first one, but I still laughed out loud during "romantic scenes" because it was just way too cheesy, some parts were very slow, and I laughed at some parts that were suppose to be serious simply because most of the guys in the film walked around without their shirts on.

I don't know why, but every time Jacob or Edward took off his shirt, I totally cracked up.

The girl who plays Bella still annoys me something fierce, and I'm going to send a note to the director to hire a new make-up artist.

I thought Edward was suppose to be gorgeous? So, why did you go an smudge black make-up under his eyes and make him look all nasty?

I'm not understanding it.

Oh well, I'm still a hopeless romantic and enjoyed some parts it.

It was fun!

Dear Tooth Fairy,

Savannah lost her very first tooth yesterday, as you know. She was pretty excited about it and faithfully placed it under her pillow.

This morning, she woke to find two quarters in place of her tooth!

But instead of being happy, her face quickly turned into a pout as she mournfully said, "The tooth fairy only left me TWO moneys."

Well, gracious sakes.

So here is my question, what is the going rate for teeth these days? I would hate to find out you shaved a quarter off the payment hoping no one would notice.

I'll contact the board of magical creatures and have your wings taken away if I have to.

So tell me, how much do other kids get for their teeth?

P.S. And while I am eating chocolate while typing this up, I want you to know that I brush and floss faithfully everyday. So don't come yanking anytime soon.

For me, it was the nipple hair.

What? You want more of an explanation? Okay. Edward, in New Moon... had weird, circular nipple hair. I couldn't get past it and if affected my ability to take the entire movie seriously.

Once I paid my kid three whole dollars for her tooth... but it was mostly because I felt guilty. It took the tooth fairy FIVE days to show up. Yeah. I'm an awesome mom like that.

I thought my daughter was the only one who always wanted little pieces of used piƱatas. :)

I still haven't seen New Moon and don't know if I ever will. Glad you got to go with some friends though. Makes it fun!

I have absolutely no idea how much the tooth fairy usually leaves under most pillows. At our house she leaves $2.25. When my younger brother heard this lately, he was shocked and couldn't believe the poor tooth fairy was giving up so much money for a tooth these days. :)

BWA HA HA HA HA HA!!! *wiping tears* Okay, seriously MommyJ, I laughed out loud at that!

And between you and Valerie, I'm starting to feel like the tooth fairy really did rip us off!

I found $20 dollars under my pillow once!....but included was a note: "leave $19 under your pillow tonight." :D Yeah right Tooth Fairy!

I love your assessment of New Moon! Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Hannah, Seriously? $20!? Maybe I would be willing to lose a tooth....

Royalbird,I know right? They could have done so much better.

I keep thinking I'm gonna be the cool tooth fairy and leave a $2 bill or one of those golden dollar coins, but I'm doing a good job if I remember to show up! So yeah, I think the going rate at our house is $2. Start small, lower expectations. That's my theory anyhow.

I liked the Twilight books, but the movies just make Edward seem so stalker-ish. Really it creeps me out.

Don't ask... :o) I've heard of some kids getting $5, which I think is too much. We still give our kids a dollar (when we remember) ha ha Sometimes my kids have had to leave a note for the tooth fairy reminding her to come.

Loved the books. Liked the movies. Especially watching them with my girls. Yes, we had New Moon t-shirts on, with bare chested men on them. I love having teenage girls. It is a great excuse to never grow up. .50 is perfectly acceptable from the tooth fairy. When our toothfairy remembers to come, that is about the going rate. Yes, sometimes the kids have to leave a sticky note on mom's bathroom mirror to remind the fairy to come. Dumb fairy.

Hahaha! I love that the kids are leaving "notes for the tooth fairy"! Too funny!

always has been a dollar. 4 quarters. 10 dimes. one hundred pennies. That way it was alway different. Some kids get way to much for their teeth....

I knew NM wouldn't be great, and I had so many issues with the 1st one that I'm not even bothering with the 2nd. (And a new make-up artist still won't help anyone with their acting!)

I got 1 quarter for my tooth. And then my loving brothers broke my delusional fantasies by saying it was my sister. I was not a child to believe in the make-believe for very long because of all the (well-meaning?) older siblings. I'm actually rather grateful for that. But can I justify ending my own kids' fantastical make-believes early on just because mine was?

The unicorn's blanket is very pretty!

Hilarious! Ya, your little one got ripped off. You should have left 4 nickles instead! 4 monies is better than 2 monies.

SO glad someone else has the same outlook the whole Twilight movie saga...

I have yet to see New Moon. I'm saving it for a night when I am in the mood for a comedy, because the first one happened to be one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long time.

My tooth fairy rate was $1. So far, I have found myself emotionally unscarred from this.

Yay for Savannah losing her first tooth! How exciting!

Hannah got $5 and a fairy doll for her first tooth. Her second tooth was supposed to be just a few dollars, but Matt's insisted on them being $5. So she got $5 and a new toothbrush. She loves floss, so the next one, she'll get $ and special floss.

If it were up to me, she'd get 50 cents. She's saving for a chihuahua and each $5 tooth gets her much closer.

I would give a dollar, bills always get kids excited. Also I laughed a lot in new moon. Too cheesy, especially Alice's vision of them frolicking through the forest. And Edward is so gross looking, he is way toooo skinny.

One time...one of you children...lost a tooth on SATURDAY! The "Tooth Fairy" FORGOT to place any money under the pillow! (Imagine that..."forgetting....")

A VERY LONG-FACED DISAPPOINTED child...came with to me with GREAT SADDNESS that the "Tooth Fairy" didn't come!

Putting on my "Mommy thinking cap on"...I explained...that the reason the "Tooth Fairy" didn't come...was...it was SUNDAY!!! The "Tooth Fairy" doesn't WORK on SUNDAY...!

Whew....VERY SATISFYING ANSWER!

I can't believe how much $$ kids are getting for their teeth. It is just crazy. My kids get a "cool" coin. Like a silver dollar or a gold dollar or something like that, for their first tooth and then .50 cents for each tooth after that. I thought that I was giving a lot.

And about New Moon. I have said it before but, I am a huge Twilight "Book" fan but not a big Twilight "Movie" fan. Edward is supposed to be the Hottest guy ever. In the book he definately is, in the movie he is so not. I think that Jacob does a great job and is perfect. In the movie I find myself being a Big Team Jacob fan. Anyway, I guess that is how it goes when they make a book into a movie.

Ugh! I feel the same way about the Twilight movies. Edward is NOT hot...although Jacob is WAY hotter than I pictured him...especially when he takes his shirt off! But seriously they should've asked ME to cast characters. Rosalie? I mean c'mon! She's a dawg! And don't even get me started on how much I despise Bella in the movie.

About the Tooth Fairy. My oldest daughter lost her two bottom teeth in less than 2 weeks of each other. My brilliant husband knows how much money she is and decided to place a baggie of coins under her pillow. There couldn't have been more than 2 dollars in the baggie, but to her, the TF left a "whole bag of monies" under her pillow!

Abe n Annie said...

Yeah, I don't understand what the big deal over Jacob ripping his shirt off the whole movie. I mean...come on. His body has nothing on mine! Some kid at the dentist office where I worked got a $50 for one tooth. Unfortunately for him the law of diminishing marginal returns kicked in and for every tooth after that he got $20. He must have had really really nice teeth I guess.

I dragged my husband to New Moon not because I was dying to see it, but out of pure curiousity. What is all the hullabaloo about eh?

We were clamping our hands over our face to keep our laughing from disturbing others' movie experience. I wish the 40 yo woman behind us would have done the same when she started groaning when Jacob took his shirt off. Yuck!!! Oh and the little girls that were crying in front of us...Good gravy!

Amanda said...

I always got 50 cents per tooth. Given inflation, I think the rate might go up to $1/tooth for my kids...but I do really like the $2 bill idea someone suggested.
