March 1, 2010

It's Monday. I don't think I should have to be coherent.

9:43 PM - We decide to go to bed early because I groaned when Luke set the alarm for 5am.

10:18 PM - She-who-shall-not-be-named (Sava*cough*nnah) climbs into bed with us.

10:21 PM - I carry she-who-shall-not-be-named back to her bed and tuck her in... again.

1: 24 AM - She-who-shall-not-be-named climbs into bed with us again. Husband, who is lucky to still be alive, places she-who-shall-not-be-named in the middle of the bed between us.

3:28 AM - Not having the patience to be slapped, kicked, punched, or have my hair pulled or played with any longer, I carry she-who-shall-not-be-named back to her bed and tuck her in... again.

3:34 AM - Laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I remember that Savannah's only good pair of school jeans are in the washer.

3:37 AM - I empty the dryer and put the clothes from the washer into the dryer.

3:41 AM - I wonder what other moms are awake doing laundry at that moment.

My next thought: maybe I should set up a Twitter account.

I'm still trying to figure out my own thought process.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daddys are so spoiled, and they don't even know it.
Who else gets a greeting like this when they finally come home from a long, hard, grueling day at work?
And who gets a farewell like this when they have to leave ten minutes later for a church meeting?
I know its not me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm such a mean mom and I have proof.

Savannah has been begging me for DAYS to let her paint her little wood rocking chair. I probably should be the super cool mommy and let her, but truthfully, I just don't want her too. So I have been telling her no over and over again.

It would appear she decided to start documenting the woes of her life just in case she needed to bring proof against me someday. This was evidenced by the fact that she presented me with this.

That mean lady on the left is me. I think the whole baring of teeth thing is suppose to show how mean I am. And that sad, crying little girl there on the right? That's Savannah feeling very wronged.

When I asked her what I was suppose to be doing she said, "you're trying to fix the button while you are telling me no."

Oh, okay then. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

And I love my hair. Do you think I should style it like that in real life? Then maybe I could join the "mean mommy" club because only truly mean mommies have hair as cool as that.

I can't stop laughing. I was laughing when you commented on my blog this morning at an obscene hour, (I thought I was the only one blog surfing at that hour!) and I'm laughing now, because my kids are the same way with their dad. Even the baby has gotten in on the act, and will climb down the stairs, howling pitifully, when Dad leaves. Sometimes I feel like I'm merely the acceptable substitute for Dad.

And I think I might challenge you for the meanest mommy award. I wouldn't let Max play xbox last night at 10pm, and made him go to bed instead. Talk about howling!

If my husband only has 10 minutes to be home between work and church meetings, I respectfully decline his offer to traumatize our children by leaving AGAIN! No thanks, buddy. Get yourself a hamburger from Wendy's on your way to the church because a blessed ten minutes is not worth the meltdown that happens when your Jeep roars out of the driveway.

Also -- I love it that your daughter draws high heels on her people. You may be a mean mommy, but at least she still gave you killer shoes.

LOL! So TRUE!
And she does draw some pretty sweet heels. Although, I don't think daddy likes them as much when she draws them on him.

I always wondered what "gnashing of teeth" looked like. Now I know!

Could you imagine what the morning would have been like if you had not remembered at 3:34 am that the jeans were still wet. Was this a mixed blessing?

Definitely!

Sometimes I think if my husband is only going to be home 10 minutes and then run off to a meeting and make the kids cry I would almost rather have him not come home!

But I guess so do other people, now that I read the comments, which I should have done in the first place. Sorry.

Wow you were prolific this morning. I awoke at midnight to the doggie yelping like her tail was being cut off. She was dismissed from the bedroom. Love the pics as usual and the mean mommy pic. Oh the abuse we mean moms take! Thanks again for the award. I have accepted it and posted a speech on my blog. I am still waiting for the monetary prize that comes wtih it.

HAHAHAH!! You make me laugh!!

I could totally rock your boat in the "mean mommy" category. I let my daughter cry in her crib until I am ready to get her out. Hello? Mess anyone? I usually have to work up the courage to relinquish all the cleanliness I just worked for HOURS to get to.

Love it, love it, love it! I am so with you in the mean mommy life. I am also feeling much better now that you have shared! I thought it was only me that had these problems. We finally got the kids out of our bed (they were 5, 7, and 9) by getting them their own special sleeping bag. When they just can't stay in their room any longer, they get to use their bag on the floor by mommie. It worked great. After several weeks of it, they finally decided the bed is much more comfortable (as long as daddy tucks them in!) Good luck. I must admit that you made me smile and I will smile tonight when I am sleeping in the bed without them!

Oh hands down I win the award for meanest mom and I'm proud of it. I've yet to see my children draw pictures of just how mean I can be. Your daughter's was pretty awesome. Oh and as for the hair....buffant is ToTALLY in! As much as the platform shoes you are wearing. ;)

I think it is funny that she is drew you fixing something while being mean. Guess she knows moms are always helping out.

I hate when I remember laundry I was doing specifically for the next day and forgot. Always a lovely feeling.

Oh yeah, the not sleeping, the tantrums when daddy leaves, the sinister drawings...sooo familiar. I hope you get a good nap occasionally!

Hahahaha! Looks like we have been having similar nights!

Too funny! Am I mistaken, or are you shaking a child upside down on the left side of the picture?

(You're gonna think I'm some sort of crazy new stalker, commenting on all your old posts...I swear I'm not crazy! I'm a friendly stalker, lol.)

Oh, oh, oh. I read again. I AM mistaken. You're fixing a button. That's certainly better than shaking a child upside down, lol.

LOL! I didn't notice before, but it DOES look like I'm shaking a kid upside down! Oh too funny!

Are you kidding? I love readers and commenters. It's almost as gratifying as a good chocolate bar!
