Advise and other random things. Please, contain your excitement.

Advise for the day: If you decide to let your kids play by themselves so you can get other things done, be sure and have the correct reaction to the fruit of your negligence.

Oh sure they were happily helping each other with the workbooks. Sure they were getting along. But was that a good reason for me to leave the room?

What do you think?

I laughed when they came giggling into the room to show off Savannah's art work. It was cute, it was funny, and I told them they were silly.

Apparently that was the WRONG reaction. Because just a few minutes later, they came back.

At the time I took this picture, I failed to notice that their arms, legs, and bellies were covered as well.

Did I mention that their arms legs and bellies were covered as well?

This time, they sure thought they were hilarious.

So stop reading RIGHT NOW and go check on your kids. Just a suggestion.

But what do I know?

In other random and more devastating news, Jacob... he... he.... hehaslearnedhowtoclimboutofhiscrib! *hyperventilation beginning to build*

Believe me when I say I KNOW how lucky I've been that it has taken him SO LONG to figure it out. He's almost three years old! But... but... he KNOWS how to climb out of his crib!!

What does this mean? How can you ask that! It mean loss of nap time, loss of the perfect time out spot, loss of bedtime control, THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS!

Chocolatechocolatechocolate... I need chocolate. NO CHOCOLATE! *hyperventilation growing and growing* Well, hot chocolate will just have to do for now. Quick fix, quick, fix....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first day of my becoming the best mom ever trial went really well! The kids LOVED that I was letting them help me cook. Even with the smallest of tasks, they were just LOVING it.
And honestly, though I don't know if me letting them help me cook is the reason, but they were just so much happier yesterday. The played together MUCH better and the fighting and arguing had greatly decreased.
And that put me in a much better and more patient mode.
There was only minor mishaps. A few small messes, biscuit dough being turned to glue from over mixing, and a burnt finger for both me and for Jacob.
On to day 2!
Ohhh my gosh, they're covered!!! Sigh. When it's too quiet, something's always going on!
Yay for successes! Good luck with the crib. I try to find sympathy, but as I was stuck in one until I was almost 5, I tend to side on the kids' side on that one. :-) You could try a rope. Oh--is that considered bad parenting?
I assume the crib is on the lowest setting? Neither of my kids ever figured out how to crawl out, but they're on the short side and I lowered the mattress pretty early.
Good luck with being a good mom again! ;o) (I'm sure you're doing much better than you give yourself credit for.)
The best mom ever challenge was an epic FAIL for me the alst two days. I am so cranky! Uh!
Scarlet regularly uses markers as 'chapstick'so all I can say is THANK GOODNESS for crayola and their washable markers.
I also am guilty of letting my children entertain themselves for long periods of time. I'm always around...but not always with them. Unfortunately, instead of getting stuff done, I ususally blog. LOL
Been there, done that, don't want to do that again!! Hope they don't find the scissors next time!! It is always the girl that gets the haircut! (FYI). Thanks for the post, I laughed myself silly (oh, already am). Plant some chocolate around the house and when you are going to blow off steam, put yourself in time out. It is peaceful in your own room! Make sure you do it right before your hubby comes home though, so you won't have as much mess.
Are you saying all that chocolate your Dad bought you...is GONE? Hmmm...guess, we will need to get a "year's supply" the next time we come...(smile)Isn't that what parents do for their "grown" children? Consider it your "inheritance" (smile)
