A Moment of Silence

Dear Mom,

I just wanted to say how much I loved shopping with you on Black Friday. And I felt so spoiled when you bought me that cute, sparkly snowman I wanted so badly. I just loved it!

But I regret to inform you that his short life ended tragically on Friday, December 11, 2009. He had a happy life, sparkling away and bringing joy to all who looked upon him.

Yes, even as he lay in pieces, scattered on the stairs, he smiled. As frantic screaming, yelling, finger pointing, and hiding took place before I even knew what the heck was going on, he smiled. As I stared dumbfounded and shocked, he smiled. As I slowly gathered up his many, many remains, he smiled.

Next time, let's just light a ten dollar bill on fire and save ourselves the trouble of having to clean up.

Love,
Your broken-hearted daughter

P.S. It was Jacob.

Dear Daughter...
I love the fact that this "snowman" is still "smiling"....I am so sorry...to see him end up like "Humpty Dumpty"...but, then...his story has been told for generations...(smile) We will need to come up with a story for this poor little fellow...

In the meantime...the TIME we spent together...will last forever!!!

Love you, sweetheart...Mama
P.S. I will just have to keep my eye open for his replacement...if I can...(smile)

Those broken pieces are large. You sure you don't want to glue him back together? Twice as strong after the mending and all that?... Yeah, I have trouble believing that at times, too. :-)

So sad! I feel your pain. My new, much loved deer is no longer with us as of Dec. 12 due to my daughter throwing a stuffed dog. Boo hoo!
