The bus is SO overrated.

I honestly thought that having Savannah in school would help. She seemed so bored around here at times. She loves being around people. She loves to be social. So I thought she would be a little happier once school started, especially since she wanted to go so badly.

But I'll be honest, it hasn't helped a bit. In fact, when she comes home she seems grouchy and sassy. Like she needs a really long nap or something. Well, maybe she does but she stopped taking naps when she turned two.

My two best friends came up to visit me yesterday and even they commented on how much of a teenager she is. Its kind of hard to miss the attitude. Sometimes its cute, sometimes... not so much.

And yet, she's still my little girl. Today was her first time riding the bus to school. I had been dropping her off these first couple of days. As I walked her to the bus stop she was so excited she wouldn't stop talking!

When the bus finally arrived, it was already pretty full. I watched her climb on and continued to watch her through the windows as she made her way slowly to the back of the bus looking for a seat. Her smile had quickly changed to a big frown as she couldn't seem to find a seat.

Finally, a couple rows from the back, I saw her squeeze past a couple kids over to a window seat on the far side of the bus. So I couldn't smile and wave, or give her a big encouraging mommy smile. I actually, for a brief moment, wanted to cry. It all just seemed so sad.

I hope she's okay. I hope she has fun.

I wish she were back home.

Kate starts on Monday and I'm so nervous. She wants to ride the bus her first day (well they went for one hour this week to meet the teacher) and I'm like are you sure!??!? I think she'll be scared when it comes down to it. But it's mostly kids in the ward who ride the bus and so she has friends who will be there. AAHHA They grow up to fast!

You poor thing! Growing up is hard. I think it's harder for us because we know what kids face, I think they're kind-of clueless about it, therefore are more fearless. She'll be just fine. :)

Oh, how sad! I had my own wanting to cry for my kid moment today. I hate it when things like that happen.

Good luck Kelly! I'm sure Kate will have lot of fun.

It so true Tabitha.

And Michelle, sorry! That is ALWAYS hard.

BUT I would like to announce that today, when she got on the bus she only made it about half-way back before some girls asked her to come sit by them. You should have seen the smile on her face!!!
It was awesome.
She'll be okay.

Honestly, five is soooo young. Kids are made to grow up too fast these days.

Hannah would go one of two ways if she went to school - top of the heap or bottom of the heap. I wouldn't want her to do either.

Does she get up early naturally? Hannah sleeps until 10 am, even when she goes to bed early. Going to school so early would DEFINITELY make her cranky and hard to deal with for the rest of the day.

I know you don't have much time to read, but Hold On To Your Kids is a really good book ...

If Savannah had no interest in school, I might have kept her home. But she has been wanting to go SO BADLY for so long. I'm glad its only half day around here.

I don't think Savannah will be top or bottom. I just want her to have fun, make friends, and learn.

She has to be at the bus stop a little after 8am which is usually when she wakes up. So I have to get her up about 20 min. earlier, which isn't bad.

I'll look into that book, thanks!
