Dimes for Comments

Even the kids are starting to notice it.

On Friday, I decided it was time to do our food storage shopping for the month, seeing as how the month was almost over.
Our first stop was Sam's Club. The double seated carts just looked like too much fun that day so all the kids wanted to ride. This of course requires two carts.
After loading up the kids I stopped at the entrance to show the worker my Sam's Club card. She barely glanced at it before looking at the two carts and said, "Wow, you sure have your hands full!"
Walking a bit further and turning a corner, another worker stops to watch me maneuver the two carts and comments, "Now that is pretty talented!"
After about a minute or so, Savannah turns to me and asks, "Mom, what did that lady say you have your hands full? And why did that guy say you are talent?"
I told her it was because I was pushing two carts. She seemed to find that funny because she started giggling.
From that point on throughout the store if for any reason I had to talk to someone, mostly to apologize for getting in their way, Savannah would stop and wait expectantly. If they said nothing, she would be disappointed and say, "Mom, they didn't say anything to us!" But if they did, it was usually, "Its okay, looks like you have your hands full!" Or "Its alright. Wow, you're pretty talented!" Savannah would always start laughing and say, "They said it mommy!!"
I suppose a limping person with two carts would look silly enough to induce anyone to comment.

After Sam's Club, we went to WinCo and then Walmart where the exact same thing happened. Two carts and Savannah watching every person we passed, waiting for a comment.

Of course, after the second store the kids where getting pretty antsy and grouchy. Usually going to one store by myself with all the kids is pushing the limits if sanity and self control and is usually only done in desperation. So I came up with a brilliant plan.
Well, at least I thought so.
At WinCo, I bought one of those french loaves of bread so when we went to Walmart, I just ripped off a huge chunk for each kid and gave it to them.
Never have I experienced such a peaceful shopping trip. They just sat in their carts, mouths full, quite content while I got what I needed. Why oh why didn't I think of doing that before? Although that did not stop Savannah from laughing every time we got the, "Wow, you sure got your hands full" comment.

Do you think I should start a fund? I could give myself a dime every time I received that comment, just to see how much money I would make over a couple of months. It might be a fun experiment!

Don't give yourself dimes, ask for a contribution every time someone comments. They'll say, "Wow, you're talented!" Then Savannah holds out a collection jar and asks if they'd like to donate to the cause. It'd be perfect.

LOLOL! That made me laugh.
What a brilliant idea! Man, I'd be rich in no time! I'd just have Savannah give her world famous pouty face. How could they refuse!

Ooo--I like that idea! And I think your bread idea was brilliant. I also couldn't help thinking of my apartment in a ward talent show where my roommate in a French accent screamed out, "No! I mus' have a bigger chunk of ze baguette!"

The french bread is a great idea, because it's chewy and keeps their mouths shut, unlike some snacks.

and I'm envious you're near a WinCo. I love that place. Did you know you can buy their bulk bin stuff by the case? Awesome.

Huh, no I didn't know that! That is awesome!

I love WinCo too. I wish it were around here!

Definitely start a fund. See how long it takes to save up for a hot date. :)

I just sat all the kids on the couch and took pictures of theirs legs then cropped the picture. Easy peasy!.... Sort of.
