Happy Mother's Day

WHEN MA IS SICK

When Ma is sick,
She pegs away.
She's quiet though-
Not much to say.
She goes right on
A-doin' things,
An sometimes laughs
Or even sings.
She says she don't
Feel extra well,
But then it's just
A kind o' spell
She'll be alright
Tomorrow, sure;
A good old sleep
Will be the cure
An' Pa, he sniffs
An' makes no kick,
For women folks
Is always sick.
An' Ma she smiles
Lets on she's glad
When Ma is sick
It ain't so bad.

WHEN PA IS SICK

But
When Pa is sick,
He's scared to death!
An' Ma an' us
Just hold our breath.
He crawls in bed
An' puffs an' grunts
An' does all kind
Of crazy stunts.
He wants the doctor-
An' mighty quick-
For when Pa's ill,
He's aweful sick.
He gasps and groans
An' sort o' sighs,
He talks so queer,
An' rolls his eyes.
Ma jumps an' runs,
An' all of us
An' all the house
Is in a fuss.
An' peace an' joy
Is mighty skeerce.
When Pa is sick,
It's somethin' fierce!

"Author Unknown" has written many poems over the years...What's interesting is that "Author Unknown" has a 1,000 different faces as well....and any one of us...could be that "author" in the poem you posted...(smile) Also,as I look at Alayna's picture...I have the satisfaction of knowing...I will be HOLDING her in my arms in about 9 days...(smile)
