Home Again!

(Sigh) No more shortbread cookies. I LOVE those things! Best part about staying at the hospital, free shortbread cookies!!
Oh, sorry, I guess you want to hear about my new little princess, not how much I like shortbread cookies.
Well, we decided to go with the name Alayna Grace.
Actually, I was surprised the voting was so close! I still love the name Autumn, but we both felt like Alayna was it.
We checked into the hospital somewhere around 10:30am-ish and Alayna made her grand appearance at 2:06pm.
She was:
8lbs 1oz
20.5 in
When the doctor first pulled her out her face was pretty blue. The cord was wrapped around her neck pretty tight.

This was my first ALL NATURAL birth. No epidural. And I have to say, I have little to no desire to ever do it again! I like my pain killers.  =)
My hat is off to all you women who had no choice in the matter and to all you crazy women who decide to go all natural every time.
It really is just like the movies. I had managed not to yell or anything up until pushing time, then all screams just sort of escaped from me. Its amazing what will come out of your mouth when you are in such intense pain.
Luke was amazing though, I never would have made it without him. He even laughed when, at a very dire moment when I would have given my leg for an epidural, I turned to him and said, "I hate you!" LOL. That got a laugh from everyone, even the doctor.
It was a very surreal experience. And yea, hopefully I never do it that way again.  =)

The kids came to see us at the hospital Sunday morning before church. I had to laugh. Savannah had decided to get all ready herself. She had dome her own hair and even put make-up on. She looked so funny. Luckily I was able to use my magic mommy skills and fixed it before she left.
Anyway, Joseph and Savannah were so excited and couldn't wait to hold her. Jacob just sat and stared for a while. Took him a bit of getting use to I think.

My baby girls!

Our little family! What am I going to do with all these monkeys!

she has such dark hair, I can't believe it. Did any of your other kids have hair that dark. I'm totally impressed you did it all natural, way to go! And congrats, she is a beauty!

OH MY GOSH!!! She is BEAUTIFUL!! And I voted for Alayna so yay :-) Her hair is out of control amazing!! You make me sick... you look so great!! Not even fair. The last 2 pictures are so so sweet. That's where that awesome saying comes from "All because two people fell in love". You are such a wonderful mom and wife and I have always looked up to you Serene. That last picture is what I'm aiming for!
And great job with all natural. I know what you mean with the screaming. I had an epidural but if wore off before I pushed so I was making noises I didn't know I could and I had zero control over them.

Congrats! She looks so cute with all of that dark hair. Your kids are just so cute and growing up.

Yay Supermama Serene! She's beautiful! Congratulations!

...and for my own future reference, I'll take note from your comments about epidural v. "natural" ;)

Oh, I'm so glad to see pics - she's really beautiful! I love her face.

I think going medication free is easier if you plan for it, lol. If I'd planned for medication with mine and hadn't prepared mentally it would have been... well, I would have panicked and it would have been so awful.

I love Joseph's face in the second to last picture. Such a cutie!

Congratulations, Serene.

Congratulations! It's such a lovely family--which is no surprise at all. Alayna does look like the others in some of the pictures. One of the boys when they were newborn, especially--but I can't remember which! Good luck with everything! Love you!

Wow, all natural. Way to go! The pictures are just FABULOUS! Who was the picture taker? Your mom? The pictures with your other kids are all so great, she did a great job taking them. They are adorable. She's a beautiful baby. Love the spikey hair.

I like where Joseph, with his finger to his mouth, is motioning others to be quiet.

Congratulations! She is absolutely beautiful. Alayna hair is awesome. I think it's cool that she has dark hair and her big sis has blonde. Now you just need a red head!

aww, congratulations Serene!!! Cute baby girl and I love seeing family pictures. :)

Congrats Serene! Did you go natural by choice? You are amazing. Savannah looks so old compared with the little sis, but she is going to be a beauty just like her mom. Oh, and by the way, no one should be able to look so gorgeous in hospital pictures!

Well Sarah and Luke, you managed to produce another absolutely beautiful baby. Even after drinking the water in Idaho! LOL...

Wow... I am sorry that you had to endure such harsh pain and criticism through the delivery Luke. My hat is off to you!

Wow, I just ducked both flip flops Sarah! Your arm is getting better!!!

I love all of you guys and I am really glad that you are alright. Luke! Make sure that you take good care of mommy so she will be able to take good care of you for the rest of your eternity together. I cannot wait to see all of you again so Luke can throw me into a large body of water with my cell phone, wallet and whatever else he had on that day!

Cheers!

Congrats Serene! She is just perfect! Best of luck at home recovering :) Way to go with no epidural... was there just not time? We love you guys!

She is so beautiful! I love love lvoe her dark hair--and so much of it! I wish my kids had hair like that when they were born. I can't believe you had no epidural. I remember you always saying how much you love having an epidural, so I assume there just wasn't time...you need to fill us in on the details! Congratulations!!!

Brittney said...

I just realized that you said she had the cord wrapped around her neck. Was that the reason for going all natural? I don't know anything about that stuff.

LOOK AT ALL THAT HAIR!!! I'm sure you've noticed, and I'm sure everyone else has too, but still, WOW!!! She really is beautiful and I think Alayna Grace is such a pretty name too. Congratulations! Your kids are going to have so much fun growing up together--boys and girls that are close in age. Kudos to you for going "natural." I hope that will make the recovery faster for you. Again, congrats to your beautiful family of 6 now!
