Goodbye Utah!

Just thought I would say bye before I pack my computer away. We are leaving tomorrow to go to Idaho. I will be sure to share more Heiner Family adventures after this brief intermission... or at least get internet in our new apartment.

Random Information about our Family

-At 14 months apart, Jacob is only 2 pounds lighter than Joseph.
-If you were to give Savannah the option of a princess sticker or a dinosaur sticker, she would pick the dinosaur. (this always causes problems at the bank, Joseph always ends up with the girly stickers)
-Luke is the first person in his family to get a Master's degree
-Favorite food: Mommy (chocolate) Daddy (steak) Savannah (stuffed pasta shells) Joseph (m&ms) Jacob (dandelions and toilet paper)
-Joseph likes to pretend my high heels are guns
-Whenever Savannah is upset and crying, she runs into the back room so she can watch herself cry in the mirror
-Luke always wears shoes and socks, even in the house, all the time, everyday
-Jacob's favorite thing to do is chew on socks
-When I was growing up I always thought I was too tall and wanted to be shorter (I'm 5'7)
-Joseph and Jacob are terrified of anything that is battery-powered while Savannah loves them (we have a puppy that barks, walks, and jumps, and a car that runs on batteries that we can't bring out because it freaks out the boys)
-Two of my biggest pet peeves are wet hair (I blow dry everyday) and stuff on my countertops, especially appliances, I can't stand them on my countertops!
-Luke talks to his family on the phone more than I talk to mine
-Jacob will suck on your toes, Joseph will lick your toes, and Savannah with pull on your toes, so watch your feet!
-Joseph has a sixth sense when it comes to sweets. He seems to know instantly when there is something sweet in the house (this is probably due to the 2 bags of chocolate chips I ate almost every week when I was pregnant with him)
-The only flavor of yogurt Savannah will eat is Key Lime Pie
-Savannah prefers milk, Joseph prefers juice
-I hate being cold, Luke hates being hot

If I think of anything else I will add them later

Sunday Afternoons

There are three good reasons why we don't usually invite people over on Sundays. I think this video clip says it all.

Let's go fly a kite

Saturday night was really windy so I brought out the kites Uncle Caleb had given to us a while ago. The kids had so much fun flying them! But poor daddy spent the whole time untangling the strings and pulling the kites out of the trees, what a daddy!

Jacob loves the slide so much. He was having fun with daddy until Joseph basically pushed him out of the way.

Primary Activity

Today the kids went to a primary activity and had a great time with water balloons, games, and just playing with their friends.

Smile for the Bishop!

Jacob and Colin playing with a water balloon

I told Joseph to throw his water balloon to me but instead, he threw it right onto my feet and popped it.

It looks like Savannah is showing off her Pooh Bear tattoo

Plastic Sack Race!

Savannah's sack didn't last that long

Cute, chubby boy!

Pajama Mayhem

There are certain items of clothing that I would never actually put on my kids to wear out in public, however, when laundry get low and the kids pajamas are all dirty, those items start to come in real handy. Tonight, Joseph's bedtime get-up was just so funny, I couldn't help but laugh. He must have thought he looked so good by the way he was smiling at the camera. Then, of course, one child can not get away with any attention without the others demanding some as well. So, here is Savannah, also in her, 'mom will never allow me out in public with these pants on' bottoms and her new shirt that she insisted on wearing to bed as well. I'm not quite sure what kind of face she is sporting, but daddy thought he would add some spice to the background.

Family Fun

I have had a blast so far here in Florida and I am sad that I only have one day left. It is fun to be spoiled by family and friends, but I also miss my hubby and my other kids. If it wasn't for them still out in Utah I probably would just stay here!
Anyway, here are a couple shots of what has been going on.

My dad took Jacob out on the tractor and started mowing the yard. I guess he was doing just fine but then I went out to get a couple pictures of them and when Jacob saw me he started crying and wouldn't stop, so the ride was short-lived.

However, they made up and Jacob enjoyed Papa later.

These headphones are my dad's and have a long tradition in my family. I remember when we were growing up, everytime it got too loud at the dinner table, or when the playing started getting crazy, or when my dad was trying to take a quick nap, he would always put these on to drown out the noise. He said it kept him sane most of the time. I think Jacob thinks he looks pretty cool in them cause he wore them quite a bit.

On Sunday we went down to my older sister's ward because they were blessing their baby, Samuel. Jacob found Uncle Abraham to be quite comefy.

Daddy's girls just being silly.

The girls in order fom oldest to youngest.

Brothers, brother-in-laws, soon-to-be-brother-in-law, and life-long friend.

The funny thing about this picture is my brother and I had no idea the other one was making a face, scary how we can be so much alike.

Today, a good friend and practically a second mom, Elin Phillips took me out for lunch. We went to the Cheescake Factory, it was the first time I have ever been there. Lunch was yummy and dessert was incredible!! Oh wow yummy! I sure like chocolate cheescake! I think I have already gained several pounds since I have been here. Anyway, the cheescake looked so beautiful and yummy just sitting there on the plate I wasn't sure I was allowed to eat it! I wish I had a camera to take a picture of it it just looked so amazing and fancy. Oh, here's a picture of it, "Chocolate Tuxedo Cream Cheescake."

Random

There is something to be said for the honesty of family and friends. It is amazing how many things they can point out to you about yourself that you never noticed before. According to my sister, I look like I came from Utah because of the way I do my hair (whatever that means). According to my brother, I look differant but he doesn't know why, something about my face, and my other sister tells me I am a lot quieter than I use to be. While I was giving a friend (that I grew up with) a hair cut the other day, he asked if I worked out because I am thinner now than I ever was in high school and wanted to know how that worked after having three kids. My older brother thinks it's funny that I wear high heals all the time now when before the fanciest shoe I owned was a flip-flop. But I think the best thing that has been brought to my attention was that according to my dad, I always use the word "random". I call all the time with a "random" question, or some "random" person did something, or something totally "random" happened the other day, or I just did something completely random. Since I don't really notice how much I use it I can't escape teasing every time I use the word, which, apprently is a lot. Sometimes I feel like the main guy on 'Scrubs' (which is a really random show by-the-way) who is always having a conversation with himself because of something someone had said to him. I keep getting all these things about myself pointed out to me that I can't help but wonder why ones family feels the need to alwys tell you about yourself. Anyway, just some random thoughts I was having.

Happiness

I am loving the warmth and sunshine of sunny Florida! I LOVE trees and my family lives on a 6 acre lot that is loaded with them! My mom is huge on gardening so her flowers are in full bloom. The flight over was alright. Jacob was really good, no screaming or crying but it is difficult to hold a 24 lb baby sleeping baby for 4 hours. Anyway, Jacob is getting loads of attention, and all the bananas and cell phones he could ask for. Which is fun for him and for me, it is nice to have extra hands to help out. The only downside is his Aunt Rebekah loves his hair... a little too much.

Florida...

Here I come! I am flying to Florida tonight to visit my family for a week. It will just be myself and Jacob since he flies free which is probably a good thing since it is an all-night flight. I am ready for some warmth and sunshine! Luke's mom is coming to watch the other two kids while he finishes up his last few days of classes. He's so spoiled. After I had Savannah I had to take her to classes with me until she was 8 months old cause I didn't have anyone I could leave here with. Anyway, when I get back we will move about a week later! It seems so crazy that I have been in Provo for the last 7 years! Time really does go by so fast! I am sad to leave all the friends I have made here and I'm sad I won't get to teach at BYU anymore. But I called BYU Idaho and they said they need a bookbinding teacher! So, if it all works out I will probably get to teach up there!
Anyway, I'll keep this updated while I'm in Florida. And, for no particular reason at all, I thought I'd share my favorite photo of me and my brother Caleb from about 6 years ago. (sorry Caleb)

You Know You're a Mom When...

You can use the diaper boxes that you've been saving for only the last 2 1/2 months for packing. (they are the perfect size for books by-the-way)

Reflections

Tonight I gave Savannah a big hug and said, "I love you so much!" to which she replied, "I know you do mom." I think that was ten times better than if she had said, I love you too. I truly want my children to know how much they mean to me. I never really dreamt that being a parent would be so difficult and draining. There have been so many times, well, probably most of the time, when I have felt like a complete failure and that I just was not cut out to be a mom, or a wife for that matter. I have locked myself in the bathroom more than once with kids screaming outside the door and just sobbed because I was so overwhelmed and just down right tired to the point where I seriously felt like I could not deal with anything anymore. The constant messes, diaper changing and demands can get old. It was especially hard when I was pregnant with Jacob and had to care for two other little ones. I have made no secret about how much a hate being pregnant. Being completely sick for 9 months, having my insides pushed, punched, and pinched, having insomnia, and all the other things that come with being pregnant for me is no picnic. But tonight I really couldn't help but think about all the good stuff. There is really nothing quite like the pride (I know, I used the "p" word) you feel when you see your little kids playing together nicely, (you will probably never know what a big deal that is until you have more than one child) or using their manners that you thought they would never get down, or just watching them finally get all their colors and shapes right. Savannah, loves to be my little helper and Joseph loves to do whatever Savannah is doing, so I usually end up with two fighting kids because they both want to "help". It is so fun to get down and play with them, to make them laugh and see their big cheesy smiles or to listen to them say their prayers on their own. Tonight, I am just feeling very blessed and had to write some thoughts down before one of the kids wakes up screaming which makes me want to crawl under the bed and pull a pillow over my ears. I love my little family and I love being a mom. Despite everything it is the best occupation ever!

The True Nature of Evolution

Savannah's first word: da da

Joseph's first word: ball

Jacob's first word: uh oh

HELP!

It has happened, all three of the monkeys our finally walking! I'm not so sure I am ready for all three of kids to be able to run away from me. ( slight whimpering and fear filled groans) Anyway, I finally got some good clips of Jacob walking. Usually as soon as I bring the camera out he drops to the floor and charges over with a big smile on his face.
